Poetry4Kids is a great place to explore a variety of poetry with your students! My students really enjoyed the funny poems as well as the classic poems. Each student chose a favorite poem to reflect on.

Think Central

As part of our new Math adoption (Math in focus) 2nd grade is using a set of online resources located at the website
Some of the features of this website include but are not limited to:
Classroom resources
Access to all  materials including e-books, activities and promethean based flip charts.

Student Assignments
Create and manage students accounts

Guides and tutorials
Download and print detailed information about how to use thinkcentral.

My A-Z

Kindergarten Students are using an application on the iPads called "My A-Z." This application allows students to take pictures, use their own voice, and create an electronic alphabet chart. They find items around the room that begin with each letter from the alphabet. They can use classmates names and take pictures or find other items around the class to help them complete their alphabet flip chart.

Raz Kids

The children in 5th grade are investing in their reading progression by using Raz-Kids.  This initiative is in it's infancy stage and we are looking forward to continued growth!

Random thoughts for RAZ

Early analysis of kids use of RAZ:

A number of different kids who struggle with motivation are really engaged both in the classroom and at home.  I have had quite a few students who have advanced to the next reading level on RAZ.

The printouts are very detailed and are great for demonstrating areas where kids need to improve.

Input from other teachers has been very positive.  Keep it coming.  I want to know what you like and what you don't.

Per Amy Beck's suggestion, have students write a couple of sentences about the books they read.  I gave students little mini (three inch) notebooks to reflect.

First Grade Using Istation

We are so excited about our new Computer Lab on campus! Thanks to the efforts of our new librarian, Mrs. Beck, we have an up and running computer lab! We are blessed to have technology in the classroom, but it is wonderful to have a place to go where there is a full class set of computers, where everyone can be actively engaged with technology at the same time. Where we can all practice a new skill or assessment together.

With our first visit, everyone learned their login information and how to get set up to their own laptop. Then we all took the starting assessment on Istation. Istation is an awesome literacy program that first assesses each child and then from there...takes the data and provides appropriate practice activities for each child to be challenged, at their level. We wouldn't be able to partake in such a great enrichment practice, as Istation, without the help of our wonderful P.T.A. Thank you P.T.A., this was a great investment!
